How a job actually runs

Five stops, in the order they happen.

Nobody buys painting. They buy the two weeks it takes and what the house looks like afterwards. This is the sequence, start to finish.

The walk

Before a number goes on paper, someone walks the elevation with you. Stucco that has been baking on a south wall since the last coat is a different job from north-facing trim under an overhang, and the two should not be quoted as though they were the same.

Tape and tarp

Nothing opens until the room is protected. Our customers write about the taping and the tarping more often than they write about the paint, which tells you how often it gets skipped by somebody else.

Cut in

The cut line is the whole job. It is the one thing a homeowner's eye goes to for the next ten years, and it is done by hand, from a ladder, at whatever height the house happens to be.

Millwork and doors

Cabinetry, built-ins and entry doors get a different product and a different pace from a wall. Specialty lacquer and wood finishes are their own trade inside this trade, and they are two of the ten things we are licensed to do.

The walkthrough

Upper management is on the job site daily, so the punch list is mostly caught before there is a walkthrough to have. What is left, we finish, and then we clean up properly and leave.

The questions people ask first.

We can start work two weeks after a proposal is accepted, unless the job carries special requests or requirements that change the schedule. If your timing is tighter than that, say so when you call and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams and Centura Paints. Which one goes on your house depends on the substrate and the exposure. A south facing stucco elevation in Boca Raton is not the same problem as interior millwork, and it should not get the same coating.
